Jodphur

“Jodphur where time slows down allowing you to soak up the moment' “ - unknown

After an early breakfast I start the journey to Jodphur which is on the edge of the Tharp Desert also known as the blue city it is also where riding Jodhpurs get there name

I was staying at Roget house a small guest house with 6 rooms in new Jodhpur. The family who own the property live on site and it felt like being in someone’s home very nice

Next day a drive to Salawas to visit with local potters, weavers and the Bishnoi people. Discover

This ethnic community in the nearby Bishnoi villages. Founded by Guru Jambheshwar in 1451, the Bishnoi sect is founded on 29 (Bishnoi) principles, including unconditional love for nature and wildlife. Spend time learning why they are protective of their land and their unique traditions and customs., participate in an opium ceremony ( was with sugar).

En route back to Jodhpur stop at a small weaving workshop and watch as family members keep up a hundred-year-old tradition of dhurry weaving.

After lunch , venture high to the majestic Mehrangarh Fort on a clifftop overlooking the city. This structure has intricately carved walls and relive the rich history contained within the fort.

Then, move to at the gleaming white Jaswant Thada in contrast with its red sandstone base before returning. The view of old Jodphur provides a view of the Blue City

Then it was the obligatory shopping honestly I’m over looking at carpets, silk scarfs or what ever is brought out every town honestly how much stuff do they think we need everything begins to blend together. I’ve had to tell them STOP I’m confused and can’t make a purchase. Oh to shop wondering by yourself my photos are only half of it
