“Home of bubble Tea and DIN Tai Fung”
Arriving in Taipei city just before for lunch searching for a laundry walking through streets the air is hot and humid let’s hope we don’t need to walk far. Found the laundry was small and even hotter than the outside. Loaded a machine and then went searching for lunch found a traditional beef noodle soup shops …. So delicious had with a onion pancake which was more like a flakey roti bread
Checked into the hotel it was selected as it has the hotel bio talked about large rooms., they did not disappoint. Grabbed a taxi and went to one of the many night markets to for dinner. The night market was so big so many choices it was difficult to deceide but decisions were made. Love the night markets
The national museum of Taiwan is a must do when visiting Taipei I have previously visited and it still did not disappoint. They have a lot of historical Chinese art and it tells the story of Taiwan and a degree of Chinese history. It also has a great restaurant on the top floor . This is a must do in Taiwan
Dihua St was an excellent way to spent the morning some quant tourist shops and local food shops lots to see and do. Taiwanese people love to take their pets every where your see them proudly passaengers in prams. We stopped for coffee the shops smelt wonderful but decided on cold drinks so refreshing in the rising temperature
No visit to Taipei is complete unless you visit Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall one of the most recognised landmarks and tourist attractions a must see. It was very humid with humid train showers making the view from the tops not as spectacular as it could have. Even. Early morning you see many people doing Tai Chi in the surrounding park.
Travelling 20 minutes from Taipei City on the subway you end at Beitou hot springs by Taiwan standards we were nearly back in the country side . A short walk through the village and you see the steam risings from the springs the walk was interesting and the springs were amazing steam rising but no strong sulphate smell. The are a number of springs to visit with many hotels along the road that offered paid swims, in the healing water. The park nearby is very peaceful and beautiful. On the way back stopped at a traditional style cafe for lunch it was interesting thank goodness for pictures the food was delicious.
As with many large city a food tour is a great way to enjoy food culture and a chance to ask a local questions. “Secret Food Tour” was the company we meet near the university and wonder around the night market stopping on the for some great snacks
Longshan Temple famous in Taipei, built in 1738 and known for its intricate architecture and cultural significance. It is dedicated to Guanyin, the Goddess of Mercy. It features intricate architecture and serves as a cultural hub for worship and community gatherings. It was very peaceful, it was very crowded with many worshipers ready for the spring festival
Din Tai Fung founded in Taiwan in 1958, and has grown from a mom-and-pop restaurant into an internationally recognised brand. Founded using natural ingredients and even today they continue to insist upon using natural ingredients, handmade dough, and top quality. The original restaurant still exists near the university and it is a take-way only. The famous Taipei 101 building is where you wait up to 3 hours for a seating. We only waited for 2 hours. Moving with the time they have robot waiters to delivering food and help clear the table. We were not disappointed the food was so delicious
Taipei 101 tower is visible from most place with-in the city, but tropical heat haze can make it difficult to clearly see. On the last night we visited the Shangri-la Hotel to for a cocktail and watch the sunset over Taipei 101. Sadely the heat haze had different idea and we could only just see the tower but once the sun went down it was a sky filled with the lights from the many buildings
Last night and the journey coming to an end back to Taipei 101 in search of dinner maybe Ding Tai Fung again but the line was so so very long we ended changing our minds going to the food court so many choices. Decided on a Japanese chicken dinner set excellent food. Once again Taiwanese people love to take there pets out for the evening.
