Sun Moon Lake

Sun Moon Lake is one of Taiwans wonders a jade green alpine lake wrapped in mountains with temples, framed by a mist at dawn encircled by temples, cycle paths and peaceful forest. The tourist bus was suppose to stop on the way but with rain coming down side ways and the temperature down to single digit we drove straight to the lake. So reading about out guesthouse if was maybe 1-1,5 km from the bus stop but it failed mentioned it was up a windy hill, , Meet a local lady on the way not a lot of English but happy to help she telephoned the guesthouse and they came and picked us up. Such a lovely gesture we would have found it but it was getting late and dark. They offered to take us back to the village later to get out dinner and would pick us up after so nice.

The restaurant was from the traditional people of Taiwan or aboriginal people as they are known. The area is famous for wild boar which we didn’t have but we did have was excellent sizzling tofu, wild fungus, grisly lake prawns and morning glory.

After a devious breakfast the guest house drove back to the village so we could leave I bags and go exploring. Initially we were going to cycle around the lake on electric bike but due to sunny weather we took the boat around the lake and on a hope on hope boat.

We ended up at one of the villages for lunch which was a hive of activity before lunch we took the cable car to the top of the mountain. lunch was anything in a stick so delicious and very reasonable prices

The Taiwanese people take there. Pets every where so well behaved the use a dog/cat pram I found this so unexpected

Early after noon it was back on the bus for the journey to the next city Sun Moon Lake fabulous place
