Munnar ( Western Ghats)

Munnar was not far from Madurai (160 km), but the road is winding and up and down as you pass through the valley where your lodge is located. The lodge Windemere was situated in the middle of a tea plantation, but the family who owned the lodge farmed cardamom.

As we arrived, it was bucketing down with monsoon rain. My accommodation was a cabin surrounded by tea and other flowers, and other plants.

As with many of these tea estates that you stay at they provide all the food but most don’t have an alcohol license but they do offered a good selection of mocktails.
