Munger
“The only people who see the whole picture are the ones who step out of the frame” - Salman Rushdie
Today we got of the boat in Munger a large industrial city historical it has a lot of history dating back to 1716. The landing was easy but to get off the small boat was a little difficulty due to the high number people bathing and the high wet steps. But the crew were willing to offer a hand or arm for support to help stabilise yourself on uneven damp surface. We were to be transported around in cars 3 to a car and to our surprise we had a police and military escort first stop was the “high street” I didn’t take photos as I was on a mission I had had technology issues overnight need extra cables and we only had 15 minutes but the policeman helped me find the shop and negotiate a good price. Then to a Munger red fort and to the east British India cemetery, we could have walk but a police escort always makes it easier.
Then with a military and police escort we zoomed through the town to the tomb of Mullun Mohammed Said perched on the top of a hill and many school children and teachers were on a school outing. The teachers spoke very good English and asked for selfies. Children were all smiles for a photo.
Return back to the bus depot I spotted a bus for a leprosy community supported by hospital and school.
Getting back on the boat they changed the location to make it easier we had police and military wave us goodbye.
Why did have the escort Pandaw pay the villages we stop at and get permission to land a visit sites. They have had trouble with other tourists previously hence our escort.
That afternoon we sailed towards Sultanganj where tomorrow excursion was to be. While saili g the head chef showed how to make Masala tea not my favourite
