The hustle and bustle of Mumbai hits you straightway the air is thick from humidity and smog it’s a vibrant city everyone is on a mission to somewhere busy busy. the road from the airport is a new expressway making the journey very quick. The hotel is grand and new with a lot of red accents. Security is high to was later to discover the Indian cricket team were staying at the same hotel so I was on the look out for any player. No such luck
A walking city tour in the cool of the morning was a great way to see the city many old colonial buildings some have been restored but any due to the climate are gradually being engulfed by vines that grow so will in the warm humid climate
Yo early to take a ferry to Elephanta you could look back to historic sights of Mumbai if you could see it through the gov. The ocean around Mumbai is part military so the boat had many signs not to take photos the crew and cabin kept yelling and pointing at you if to took your camera out. We passed many military boards on the 90 journey, Once on the island we hopes in a small trail. To take to the main attraction not unlike the train in Victor Harbour South Australia to granite island. There were a 120 step to climb to the ruins you could either walk or be carried by 4 porters in a chair I walked I’m sure it was safer,
The carved cave temple was amazing it dates back to the 7th century and is dedicated to Lord Shiva there are large rock panels that tell you the story of his life and the central image defines the three different aspects of of his life creators preserver and destroyer it was an excellent place with peace and solitude even with many people around you
Ack to the vibr that is the city to see the gate way to Mumbai and the historic Taj hotel so many people milling around the Taj hotel was just amazing security is very high due to the bombing.
A drive out of central Mumbai allowed you to see that life was still hectic. We visited a local market where they came to get there Masala mix families usually have their own blend mixing 5 plus kilos per Time not in this 10gm mix. The entire area had a wonderful smell
