Bahr

“A nation’s greatness is how it treats its weakest members” - Mahatma Gandhi

Bahr is in the state of Bihar it’s was very poor with dust everywhere plus the smell of burning cremations. Landing in Bahr was challenging, need to focus focus our ship is not allowed to dock hence we take a small boat to shore along with our guide Mr Suva and about one crew member for every 3 passengers plus maybe 2 extra. They carry water, hand sanitizer and first aid for just in case. we are all provided with a 2-way radio. The crew are all eager to help to disembark and then embark it’s important to take a helping hand.

The village is very poor they grow a vegetables and large crops of lentils. We were immediately swarmed by many children foreigners are not common in this area. We to walk to a Hindu temple past where cremations are performed but the children wanted to shake hands and say hello in English asking where we were from a bit overwhelming but how can you say no.

The Hindu Alkakhnath Temple was small but very busy due to the festival many worshipers the floor very very wet as they put water and honey over part of the ritual also many bees. We did not go inside just I case we slip. The crowds followed us every where not wanting us to leave.

Finally back on the boat cruising to Mokama
